Research & Development Incentive Services Leader, PwC China

Roger is PwC China’s R&D Incentive Services Leader and represents China on PwC’s Global R&D Incentive Steering Committee.

Roger has more than two decades of experience in Big Four firms, providing taxation and business advisory to Chinese domestic corporations and to multinational corporations with operations in China. During the course of providing services to clients, Roger has maintained very good relations with Chinese government authorities concerning business operations. 

Over the past ten years and more, Roger has been focused full time on the development of R&D incentive services which help companies obtain, maintain, manage and control: R&D Expense Super Deduction benefits; High and New Technology Enterprise benefits; Software Enterprise benefits; Integrated Circuit Enterprise benefits; and other China government incentives through international cutting edge methodologies and approaches. Roger has been invited multiple times to participate in and assist the Chinese and HKSAR governments with a range of legislative discussions on R&D incentives. In this connection, Roger now serves many top companies from multiple industry sectors.

Before joining PwC China, Roger worked in the New York, Vancouver and Toronto offices of another Big Four firm before heading up their China tax practice in the US and Canada.

Roger is a frequent speaker at events organized by professional organizations, banks and universities in North America and China. These include the US Tax Executive Institute, Canadian Tax Foundation, US International Tax Fiscal Committee, US International Tax Committee, Deutsche Bank, Bank of China, and universities in North America (Washington University MBA and University of West Georgia MBA) and China ( CEIBS EMBA, Tsinghua University EMBA and CKGSB EMBA).

Roger is an LL.B. of Peking University Law School, as well as being a CPA of CPA Australia and CMA of the United States of America. He is also a Global Director of the US Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and Chairman of its China Regional Advisory Committee. He is a Guest Professor at the China Central University of Finance and Economics Graduate School and the China Academy of Social Science Graduate School. Roger is fluent in English and Chinese.
