Partner, PwC Hong Kong
Jim is passionate about working with the business ecosystem in Hong Kong, with PwC’s clients, and other relevant stakeholders, to support the Government’s mission to reinvent Hong Kong’s position and status as a premier international financial centre - “Asia’s World City”. This includes educating the broader international business community as to the meaning of “One Country Two Systems”, and reinforcing Hong Kong’s continued and unique role and competitive advantage as a super-connector between Chinese Mainland and the rest of the world.
Over a diverse career with PwC spanning 35 years, 30 of which have been based in Hong Kong, Jim has a rich background of serving and interacting with multi-national companies operating across the Asia Pacific region, and globally. As a senior partner, Jim has held various leadership positions in China, Asia Pacific, and Globally, alongside serving major conglomerates across a range of industry sectors and business segments. His experience spans audit and assurance, risk management and corporate governance, M&A, IPO and transaction services.
Most recently, Jim has been responsible for leading PwC’s digital transformation journey. This has included pioneering new start up tech ventures under a corporate venturing business model. This required a major culture change over several years involving business model reinvention and a focus on innovation and intrapreneurship. Jim’s natural strengths as a leader of change, being willing to take on new challenges and inspire others on the journey, were critical attributes.
Jim graduated from Kings College London in 1990 with a first class honours degree in Chemistry, after which he joined and trained with PwC UK in London. He is a member of the ICAEW and HKICPA, and has participated in Executive Leadership training programmes with Harvard Business School and MIT. He was also one of a small group of emerging future leaders at PwC globally to be selected to join its Ulysses programme, involving 3 months in Peru working with an NGO.
In his personal life he is active in the board of Mind Hong Kong, a charity dedicated to supporting positive mental health and well-being. He is a fitness enthusiast, regularly participating in marathons and other endurance events, and is a keen salsa dancer.
