David is a tax partner in the Financial Services team of PwC Hong Kong specializing in banking and capital markets and asset management.
David has more than 15 years of tax experience. He advises investment banks, commercial banks, securities houses and investment funds (hedge fund and private equities) on the day-to-day management of different tax risks and tax matters, including permanent establishment issue, booking model, tax treaty protection, transfer pricing planning, offshore claim and offshore fund tax exemption, and Hong Kong stamp duty compliance. David advises clients on structured products and financing arrangements (e.g. aircraft leasing and securitization) and he also assists clients in obtaining advance tax ruling on emerging tax issues and has extensive experiences in dealing with the Hong Kong tax authority on disputes concerning tax issues of banks or investment funds.
He is a regular speaker in tax seminars and forums and he also contributes articles to local and regional tax journals on different issues including financial products, investment fund structuring, and permanent establishment risk.
David began his career in Toronto, Canada, and is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
