Alan Yam

Alan Yam is a Partner of China Tax and Business Advisory Services at PwC China based in Shanghai and is the China Practice Leader for Automotive Industry and Consumer and Industrial Products for tax practice. He began his career in Hong Kong in 1990 and was seconded to Shanghai in 1994. He has been a Partner since 2000.

During his professional years, Alan has developed extensive experience in providing tax, restructuring and business consultation to many major US and European multinational OEM and Tier 1 automotive clients investing in China. He has been seconded to work for two years as the tax manager at a major US automotive entity with multiple 50/50 JV in China.

Alan was voted as a top tax advisor for three consecutive years for Mainland China and Hong Kong in surveys conducted by the International Tax Review. In the recent International Poll Survey for 2008 announced by International Tax Review, Alan was the only China tax advisor named by respondent tax directors as being highly regarded.

Alan received his Bachelor of Business Administration (Professional Accountancy) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and he obtained his Master of Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in Illinois. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
