My name is Stefanie, and I joined PwC through the China Sourcing Initiative (CSI) programme in 2018. My first interaction with PwC was an internship under the International Assignment Service team a few years ago. Although the internship only lasted a few months, I gained valuable knowledge about Hong Kong Tax, China Tax, and even international tax.

After graduating with a master’s degree in accounting in 2018, I applied for the tax team in Hong Kong through CSI and was lucky to have the chance for an interview. The CSI coordinator came to Canada to hold the initial interview. Throughout the whole interview and onboarding process, I was kept up to date; and it was very clear and smooth. Fast forward a couple of months, I got the final offer and was extremely lucky to join the US Tax Consulting team in Hong Kong.

The people here are friendly and approachable. Our team’s partners and managers have all been very encouraging and understanding. I particularly like the comfortable working environment here, where senior staff are always open to guide me on both job-related matters and issues beyond work. I also met peers here who also joined through the CSI programme. Throughout the challenging times, we provided each other with support and reassurance.

On top of making relationships of a lifetime, I also gained exposure to a wide range of US tax compliance and consulting work. This helped me develop my technical competence in this area, and improved my critical thinking and workplace communication. There are lots of events and opportunities such as PwC’s corporate social responsibility events, that allow me to meet talent across different teams and regions. I am very grateful that I joined PwC, where I am in the company of amazing people in such an exciting environment, motivated to do my best and constantly improve myself.
