"Though I cannot speak or make sounds, I express myself through painting at PwC."

Jingyang, Shi Creator Team of the Diverse Art Mini-Classroom

I am a person with a hearing impairment who has loved painting and calligraphy since childhood. Although fate closed the door for me to express myself through sound, it opened a window for me to convey my thoughts. I have been working in the art industry for over 30 years and have been deeply influenced by several well-known teachers. Now, I am a member of the Beijing Artists Association.

Joining PwC was not only my original intention but also an opportunity for me. I have always hoped to promote and spread painting and calligraphy culture to the younger generation, helping them understand art and cultivate their minds and bodies. PwC is an inclusive and diverse platform that has given me the opportunity to showcase my talents and become a team member of the "PwC Diverse Art Mini-Classroom" project.

The creator team of the Diverse Art Mini-Classroom is composed of PwC employees with disabilities. Through sharing Chinese painting masterpieces, teaching basic techniques of Chinese painting, and guiding everyone to appreciate the poetic charm and interest of Chinese paintings, we aim to promote inclusivity and diversity.

Initially, teaching our colleagues was not an easy task for our small creator team. But during the preparation, we assigned tasks and practised constantly. I was responsible for teaching painting and calligraphy, while other colleagues were responsible for course outlines, sign language interpretation and voiceover, teaching equipment debugging, etc. Eventually, we all coordinated and cooperated, complemented each other's strengths, overcame various difficulties, and successfully carried out a series of courses. We received many affirmations and praises from our colleagues for the art mini-classroom, which made us feel trusted and accomplished.

The colleagues I work with, regardless of their regional upbringing, educational background, gender, or physical condition, treat each other with equal respect, understanding, and heartfelt communication. Each of us has our unique value, and as long as we are given a stage, our talents will be seen!
