Katherine Yu - Senior Associate, Assurance

Daniel Li

Hi everyone, I am Katherine, I joined PwC in 2016 through the Campus Recruitment Programme. I primarily work on engagements related to TMT and manufacturing industry in the assurance practice.

I majored in accounting during my undergraduate study and have passed ACCA general examination and laid a solid foundation in professional knowledge on accounting and auditing at school. As the saying goes, "Knowledge from books is always shallow, one must practice to grasp it all", I realise after working in audit that the knowledge acquired from books is only the foundation, to thoroughly grasp it I must personally put it in practice.

As an auditor, we shall always maintain a high degree of professional scepticism in our work according to professional ethics requirements. We need to understand, discover, evaluate, pay continuous attention to and take the corresponding measures to cope with the possible risks faced by clients rather than only following the requirements of auditing standards in the actual work.

In auditing, the team is the foundation of execution. Each team member is expected to demonstrate our own abilities as our roles evolve based on experience and skills gained in order to develop our leadership capability. No matter which grade or rank you are in, one should always provide guidance to more junior colleagues and may at times need to coordinate with other professional teams for achieving the project targets together.

I've always feel lucky to have joined PwC where I have benefited  a lot and have met many funny, charming and ambitious partners. I have been able to avoid wrong turns in my life and being able to maintain enthusiasm and confidence to improve and enrich myself. I always tell myself to not give up and to do better. I hope the saying "what does not kill me, makes me stronger" will inspire not only myself but also those who are reading this.
